The Only Dedicated Pet Dental Hospital in NSW

Dentistry is all we do. Since 2005 we've handled the cases that need more than a routine clean, working alongside local vets across NSW.

Patients: Dogs, Cats, and other Pets
Referral: Preferred but not required
Second Opinions: Welcome

A Single Focus

Sydney Pet Dentistry treats one thing: dental and oral disease. That focus lets us offer the broadest range of treatment options in Sydney, backed by proper diagnostics.

It also means honest advice. Knowing every option often points to a simpler treatment rather than the most complex one, and we’ll tell you when that’s the right call for your pet.

For pet owners

Your local vet sees your pet regularly and is the right first stop. If it’s been more than twelve months, book a checkup. Most dental disease is caught there first. When a case needs specialist care, that’s where we come in.

For vets

Most dental disease belongs in general practice: standard extractions, preventive care, and diagnosis with dental x-rays. When a patient needs more, we treat it and return them to you. Patients get the best outcomes when local vets and our team work together.

How We Make A Difference

  • Less pain and less bad breath, treated at the source
  • Care and clear communication at every step
  • Close working relationships with referring vets
  • The expertise of Australia's only dedicated pet dental hospital
  • Overflow and emergency capacity when it's needed

Our Story

Where We Started (2005)

Christine Hawke founded Sydney Pet Dentistry in 2005, after qualifying in veterinary dentistry through the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists. At the time, the field was barely recognised. Oral health problems were accepted rather than investigated, on the assumption that a pet still eating was a pet with a healthy mouth.

That assumption was wrong. Dental disease causes real pain, and pets hide it. They eat through it, gulp food to avoid chewing, and follow a pack instinct not to show weakness. Left untreated, it can also affect the heart, liver and kidneys.

A Growing Field

Christine joined a small community working to raise awareness of dental disease among vets and owners in Sydney and around the world. Sydney Pet Dentistry began training vets and vet students, and built a referral service for the pets of NSW.

Sydney Pet Dentistry Today

After eighteen years working across specialty hospitals in Homebush, Rosebery and Artarmon, we now run our own hospital in Artarmon, the first dedicated pet dental hospital in Australia, with diagnostic tools and treatments built for this work alone.

Our philosophy is simple: your pet doesn’t need a perfect mouth, just a healthy, pain-free one. Some treatments, such as cosmetic dentistry, are unnecessary in animals, and we’ll say so. Our goal now is the same as it was in 2005: help the pets of NSW get the care they deserve.
